Terms of use
Last updated 3 September 2026. Plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, write to support@ranked.ng before you use the service.
Who runs Parents
Parents, the service at parents.ng, is run by Ranked Technologies Limited (RC 9522220, NDPC registration NDPC/DCP/14538), Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria. Contact for anything on this page: support@ranked.ng.
Who these terms apply to
They apply to the creche that holds the account, to the staff it gives logins to, and to the parents it gives read-only logins to. If you sign in, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not sign in and tell the creche.
What Parents is
Parents is record keeping software for a creche. Staff log a child's day on a tablet or phone: feeds, sleep, nappy changes, tummy time, temperature, medication, growth measurements and carer notes. The daily report puts one child's day on one screen, and the carer can hand that report to a parent over WhatsApp.
Parents is not a supervision system. It does not watch children, it does not raise alarms, it does not call anyone, and nobody at Ranked Technologies reads the entries and acts on them. Do not rely on it in an emergency.
The immunisation table is a reminder, not medical advice
- The dates are worked out in your browser from the child's birth date and a copy of the Nigerian routine immunisation schedule. Nothing more.
- Parents does not know what a child was actually given. A vaccine only shows as given when a carer writes a note containing its code.
- The schedule is a static dataset held on this site. Check it against the child's own immunisation card and against what the health worker says. Where they differ, they are right and this table is wrong.
- A temperature of 38 degrees or more is marked in the report so a carer notices it. That marking is not a diagnosis and no alert is sent to anyone.
- Nothing on Parents is medical advice. Medical decisions belong to a health worker.
The creche is responsible for its children's records
The creche decides which children are entered and what is recorded about them. Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 the creche is the data controller for those records. Ranked Technologies Limited operates the software and processes the records on the creche's instructions.
By using Parents the creche confirms that:
- It has the consent of a child's parent or guardian before entering that child, and that consent covers the records being held on a server in Türkiye, which is where this service runs.
- It has told parents what is recorded and who can see it.
- It gives logins to named people only, and removes a login when that person leaves.
- It understands that every login on its instance can see every child on that instance. A parent login is read only, but it is not limited to that parent's own child. If that is not acceptable to the creche, it should not hand out parent logins.
- It only records what it has a right to record, and does not enter a child it has no relationship with.
Logins
- There is no public sign up. The creche's administrator creates every login.
- Passwords must be at least 8 characters and common passwords are refused. Five wrong passwords lock that login for an hour.
- This site does not send email. The password reset form exists in the underlying software but no reset message will reach you. If you are locked out, ask the creche administrator to set a new password.
- Parent logins are read only. They can open the dashboard, the timeline and the daily report, and they cannot add, change or delete anything.
- The user menu can issue an API key for a login. An API key gives the same access as that login, so treat it like a password and do not share it.
- Do not use someone else's login, and do not try to reach records that were not given to you.
Sending a report on WhatsApp
The report is put together on the staff device and handed to WhatsApp on that same device. The carer picks the chat and presses send. Parents does not store parents' phone numbers and does not send the message itself.
Once the carer sends it, the content of that report is on WhatsApp and outside our server and our control. WhatsApp's own terms and privacy policy then apply to it. Check the chat before sending. A child's record sent to the wrong chat cannot be recalled by us.
Fair use
Do not try to break, overload or get around the sign in. Do not pull data in bulk beyond what the account's own API is for. Do not upload anything that is not part of a child's care record. We can suspend a login, or a creche's whole instance, that does any of this, and we will say why.
Availability, and your own copy of the data
Parents runs on one server operated by Ranked Technologies in Istanbul, Türkiye, reached through Cloudflare. It is not in Nigeria. We do not promise any level of uptime, and we may take the service down to upgrade or repair it.
There is no off site backup in place today. The records live on that one server and we are the only ones with access to it. A creche that cannot afford to lose its records should keep its own copy: export it through the account's API, or ask us at support@ranked.ng and we will send you one.
Money
Nothing is charged for Parents today and the site takes no payment. Any price shown anywhere is a proposal, not a bill. If we start charging, we will change these terms first and tell the creche before any money is due.
Ending the service
A creche can ask us to close its instance at any time by writing to support@ranked.ng. When an instance is closed, or when a creche asks for a child's record to be removed, the data is deleted within 30 days. We can also stop running the service, in which case we will give the creche notice and time to take its data first.
What we are and are not answerable for
Parents is provided as it is. We build it carefully and we run it honestly, but we do not warrant that it will be available, error free, or fit for a particular purpose.
We are not answerable for a decision anyone makes on the strength of a report or the immunisation table, for care given or not given to a child, for a report sent to the wrong chat, or for anything that happens to a message after it leaves the staff device. We are not answerable for records lost when a creche kept no copy of its own.
Nothing here limits anything that Nigerian law does not allow us to limit.
Changes
We can change these terms. The date at the top of this page changes with them, and if the change matters we will tell the creche that holds the account.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Lagos State deal with any dispute about them.
Privacy
What is stored, where it sits, and how to ask for it is set out on the privacy page.
Open source
Parents is built on Baby Buddy, an open source project released under the BSD-2-Clause licence. The daily report, the WhatsApp hand off and the Nigerian immunisation schedule are additions built by Ranked Technologies Limited.
